| Tiivistelmä: | Although domestic sales of new automobiles in 1995 were up 3.0% from the previous year, exports decreased by 5.% to just under 10.09 million vehicles as a result of increased production at overseas bases by various manufacturers and the rapid appreciation of the yen during the first half of the year. This was fifth cinsecutive year that exports decreased. In 1996, the industry is expected to make a recovery, although not a strong recovery, mainly in the area of investment in plant and equipment. |
