Tiivistelmä:The practice and literature indicate that there is not a consistent view of what supply chain management (SCM) really is. Recent researchers indicate that it transcends firms, functions and business processes. To achieve the objective of integrated SCM, most functions and business processes are involved. Hewitt calls for development of theory and principles to guide management to close the gap between the theory and practice in SCM. A framework has been proposed which integrates the potential structures of supply chains, the business processes, and the key components for management attention. There is definitely a need for the integration of business operations in the supply chain that goes beyond logistics.
