| Tiivistelmä: | Switzerland has retained its role as a safe-house for international funds. And new sources of income are being found in securities trading and derivatives. The end results of the December 1992 referendum rejection of the EEA agreement, bringing the seven Nordic and alpine members of the EFTA together with the EU, remain unclear. Some of the more protected areas of the Swiss economy may be hit by new competition. That in turn would have an impact on the banks, if their domestic customers find life increasingly difficult. A list of foreign banks in Switzerland is included. |
