| Tiivistelmä: | London is Europe's main magnet for foreign banks. London's enduring attractions as a European financial centre are amply demonstrated by the strength of its foreign banking community. The patterns are changing, however. Three continuing trends are influencing the character of the financial groups represented there: 1) mergers and takeovers; 2) reduced ambitions; 3) emergence of new countries. The most significant mergers and acquisitions have been recently among the US banks. |
