Tiivistelmä:The results of The 2003 National Business Ethics Survey revealed that young employees are less likely to report misconduct in their workplace, than their more experienced colleagues. This article argues that this can be explained with the help of the life-course model of deviance. The authors analyze the 2003 National Business Ethics Survey and find that young and short-tenured employees perceive less informal prosocial control, that increases whistle-blowing. However, no mediating effect of informal social control in the relationship between young age (/short tenure) and whistle-blowing was found. This indicates that other explanations for the behavior of young employees are still needed.
