Tiivistelmä:Most firms address the question of romantic relationships between workers when it is too late - work routines are disrupted and other employees demoralized. Using the restaurant business as a case in point, legal implications of fraternization are reviewed and preventive actions are suggested. Some of the potential problems - employee violations of the Criminal Code, sexual harassment - are examined in detail. If a company develops an anti-fraternization policy, and if the policy is valid, then management has the right to enforce that policy through the use of involuntary discharge. Some special cases when managers are involved that cannot overcome their romances or friendship are considered.
