| Tiivistelmä: | The cyclical upswing which started in 1993 has continued until mid-1995. However, since fall of last year total output growth has lost momentum. Since then real GDP on average has grown more or less at the same rate as potential GDP. Due to special factors such as the introduction of the income tax surcharge at the beginning of the year, unfavorable weather conditions in the first months and late Eastern sales, the quarterly pattern of output was very unsteady: While real GDP showed only a small expansion in the first quarter it increased markedly in the second quarter. |
