| Tiivistelmä: | There is a long history of efforts to establish linkages between labour standards and trade policies. Recent attention followed from the Clinton Administration's ability in 1994 to gain agreement in the preparatory committee for the World Trade Organization (WTO) that the issue could be reintroduced later for discussion by the WTO. While the issue is not yet under discussion by the WTO, the possibility that it may be has stimulated renewed discussion by international institutions such as the OECD and the World Bank. |
