| Tiivistelmä: | This paper discusses the nature of the consumption process for tourists while on holiday. The relationship of non-everyday setting and increased desire for interpersonal and intrapersonal significance within holiday consumption experiences are found to be essential in generating a perceived developmental event for the consumer away from the routine of everyday living. The authors propose a survival theory of tourist consumption. |
