Tiivistelmä:Screening curves can be very useful in a simplified methodology for comparing supply- and demand-side resources, because they supplement the information contained in supply curves of conserved energy. The screening curve approach delivers information on competing supply technologies, such as annualized capital costs, variable costs and cost/kWh. This makes possible the convenient comparison of the parameters affecting supply- and demand-side investment decisions. The paper describes the conceptual tools needed to apply integrates supply/demand screening curves in the least-cost utility planning process. Examples of supply- and demand-side technologies are presented and plotted on a representative screening curve.
