| Tiivistelmä: | In the world economy, there is moderate expansion. In the past year (1997), production expanded rapidly. Growth of real GDP amounted to 4 percent and was as high as in 1996. In Asia, there might be a stabilization expected ? Economic growth in the dynamic economies of Southeast Asia slowed down dramatically in 1997. The strong growth has been stopped. Recently, however, markets have stabilized. In some cases, there has been even a moderate recovery. In industrial countries, the upswing will continue at a moderate pace experienced in the previous two years. There is a good chance that the recovery in Central and Eastern Europe will gain some strength. Exports in the industrial countries will expand at a lower rate than last year. However, domestic demand will be stimulated by monetary policy.There is no risk of deflation on world economy level. |
