| Tiivistelmä: | The automotive industry is facing an ongoing concentration process. Forecasts expect that the 16 independent carmakers in 1999 will shrink within the next then years. Strong scale economies are driving this process. To exploit these scale effects, modular product concepts, so-called platform-strategies or platform based passenger cars become crucial. Nearly all carmakers are planning its product-program along platform structures. |
