| Tiivistelmä: | It is examined why the Soviet plans to surpass the US and Western Europe within 10 to 20 years failed. Three periods are investigated; the pre-war, post-war and the present. Today the Soviets are both more reserved and pessimistic concerning the prospects for the development of the Soviet economy and future competition with the developed countries. |
