Tiivistelmä: | In the nuclear power industry, human factor issues arise in connection with designing equipment systems, facilities, and operational environments to reduce the probability of human error. Human factor issues were of grave concern to the nuclear power industry during the 1980s due to a critical incident that accured in March, 1979. That event, Three Mile Island 2 (TMI), would affect the management, operation, and design of pressurized water reactors used to generate electricity. All aspects of the human element are considered which may affect the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the plant. Information was obtained through a variety of sources: personal interviews, published material, professional presentations, participation in project teams. |
