| Tiivistelmä: | Paper provides some evidence on the importance of welfare entries. To do this authors analyze both nationwide survey data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) and administrative from California's Medi-Cal Eligibility Determination System (MEDS). Authors suppose that both nationwide survey data and administrative data from the state with the largest welfare caseload indicate that the decline in welfare participation rates had much to do with decreasing entry. In both data sets, entry explained roughly half of the decline in the caseload. |
