| Tiivistelmä: | The topic of this article is the relationship between environmental assessment and environmental management systems in the context of recent industrial estate developments. The study shows that the environmental impact assessment system worked well within the context of land use planning. But it failed to facilitate the planning of effective environmental management in practice. Because of that the projects examined failed to meet any of the good practice criteria against which they were tested. The study makes several recommendations to strengthen continuity between the two. |
