| Tiivistelmä: | In our days there exists principally two methods for the examination of quality systems: audits for systems built up in accordance with ISO 9000 standard series and self-assessment for organisations operated complying with TQM principles.The author describes characteristics, similarities and differences of the two methods. This comparison is aimed at demonstrating ideological divergences in the application of the two methods. The methodology of auditing is already well-known but that of self-assessment is spreading only recently. Undesirable by-effects may occur when methods are not clearly separated or they are applied improperly. |
