| Tiivistelmä: | International cooperation in science and technology is investigated. The rapidly shifting political environment, the major transformations in the patterns of world economic interdependence, the growing importance of religious values, the emergence of moral and ethical issues at the forefront of choices about inter- and intra-generational equity, the challenge of environmental sustainability, the accelerating pace and increasing complexity of scientific advances and technological change are the main factors that change the way we look at the role of science and technology. Speculations about what is likely to happen in the future are described and implications for technology are derived. |
