Tiivistelmä:The spectacular business success of the "four dragons" of the Far East - Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan - as well as human resource management and industrial relations in these countries have been greatly influenced by Confucian thought. In spite of increasing influence of the Western model of human resource management on individualism, interpersonal relationships that encourage independence and worker participation in an atmosphere of competition and elitism , countries in the far East seem to still highlight the importance off group effort, collective decision making, co-operation and harmony at work. Some empirical evidence and managerial implications are discussed.
