Tiivistelmä:Taiwan is trying to stem the tide of investment in China. Taiwan investors are attracted by China's cheap labor and status as the world's largest emerging market. China also offers special tax breaks and incentives for the Taiwanese. Since China has determined to reunify with Taiwan, if necessary by force, this leaves the government in Taipei feeling uncorfortable. President Lee Teng-hui has been trying to limit the amount of investment in the mainland. That strategy could sink Taiwan's economy because if they don't invest in China their rivals will, weakening Taiwan's competitive position.
