| Tiivistelmä: | Legal norms of employee participation in Austria and those in the Federal Republic of Germany are reviewed. In essence they seem to be similar. A study of the topic conducted in Upper Austria is reported. The focus of this study was on the availability of economic information necessary for employee representatives to make their participation efficient. Two qiuestionnaires had been sent to more than 2000 work council chairman. As a Result a number of positive and negative phenomena were discovered. A relative shortage of timely information based on accounting documents was disclosed. The role of oral communication was found to be important. Employee representatives who were concurrently the members of the supervisory board could get more data. |
