| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of this note is to give a simple proof of the theorem of Knaster, Kuratowski, Mazurkiewicz and Shapley (the K-K-M-S theorem). In order to prove the nonemptiness of the core of a balanced nontransferable utility game, Shapley (11) extended the theorem of Knaster, Kuratowski and Mazurkiewicz on closed coverings of a simplex (the K-K-M theorem) (8) to the case of more general closed coverings of a simplex incorporating the notion of balancedness , and obtained a theorem now called the K-K-M-S theorem. |
