Tiivistelmä:The role of the consumer's perception of product quality within the traditional model is examined. The established analysis of the model assumes that consumer's price decision reflects his purchasing desire-marginal utility. This article develops an alternative hypothesis that argues that under conditions of "abundance" supply plays only a limited role. Once the analysis is moved from an individual consumer to aggregate or market population the model implies that the distribution of income over the buying population will define the volume distribution of purchasers over a price quality range.
