Tiivistelmä:The authors study the matching process of vacant jobs and unemployed job seekers from a demand-side perspective. They examine how the use of different recruitment strategies influences the distribution of vacant jobs over employed, unemployed and school-leaving job seekers. The authors develop an allocation model in which the dependent variable is the outcome of the allocation process of the vacant job with respect to the previous labour market position of the accepted applicant. Two hypotheses are tested: the probability that a vacant job is filled by an unemployed individual is influenced (1) by the required characteristics of the applicant, and (2) by the recruitment channels used by the employer.
