| Tiivistelmä: | Now the truth is out about government debts and deficits, and the brazen throats of government-bond dealers that screamed "sell" in the summer can barely find breath to whisper "buy in the autumn. Since the Fed hike in February, bond markets have declined worldwide; the US yield curve continues to widen as the economy roars ahead. But nowhere has the steepening of the yield curve been so dramatic as in Europe. For some European banks, which love to sell boring bonds to cautious customers, the 1994 bond-market discontent will weigh heavily on earnings for the rest of the year. |
