| Tiivistelmä: | Eurocommercial paper has grown into a $50 billion market since 1984. It is an easy and cheap source of funds, used by countries and banks as well. It developed much faster than expected, and everybody wanted to join. Because of huge costs the weaker players will be out of business sooner or later. Why is this new form so popular? Some experts think that it brings in extra incomes without lending extra money. Others see it as a very important way for banks to keep in touch with big firms. Anyway, it is a rather flexible market. |
