Tiivistelmä:World class companies entering new markets usually win away the customers of local firms easily because they satisfy customers to a greater degree than their local competitors do. These companies, which are generally international firms, cannot operate successfully away from their home bases without satisfying their new customers, unless the extent of their foreign operations is limited to upstream processing of raw materials or other value-adding activities that are not subject to objective market tests. Requirements for strategy formulation are described, and it is argued that business strategies must be formulated in light of how competitors will respond.
