Tiivistelmä:Mergers and acquisitions (hereafter as: M&As) have long been a target of interest for academics. However, much seems not to be known about M&A outcomes. This state of affairs is frequently thought to be caused by the fragmentation and existence of substantive gaps in current M&A literature. Moreover, it is thought that integrative frameworks are needed to grasp the complex phenomenon. This article does not agree, but instead posits that the M&A field has become marred by a set of bureaucratic method techniques trivializing research with little organizational relevance. To advance the understanding of M&A, scholars must rethink how knowledge is produced in the M&A field in terms of research designs and source of data. The aim of the research note is, in other words, to discuess a possible way to query M&As. Consequently, it addresses some methodological issues about the study of M&A as processes instead of as one time events in order to bring forward some ideas on how to learn more about M&A processes.
