| Tiivistelmä: | The impact of national culture and values on the functioning and performance of an aluminium plant in India is analyzed. Human relations and hierarchic stratification of the staff are highlighted. Description of labour organization and specialization of work groups, normal output per worker and motivation. The relationship superior-subordinate resembles that of a father to his son and human relations generally are more familiar and personal than in the Occident. Recognition of good work is more appreciated by workers than promotions or wage increase. Traces of management theory by Taylor and Peters are detected throughout. |
