Tiivistelmä: | Purchasing costs of repeatedly used items consist of invoice cost, possession cost, and acquisition cost. Based on transactional cost analysis a purchase relationship is considered being an organizational continuum one end of which is a discrete exchange, and the other one is a relational exchange. Governance elements of purchasing relationships are discussed. It is examined whether the structure-performance relationship is a contingent one. The relationship between industrial buyer and seller of ball bearings is investigated using data from a survey. Purchasing performance in terms of acquisition cost is enhanced when, under conditions of uncertainty, firms introduce more relational elements into their purchasing arrangements. |
