Tiivistelmä:The article reports an experiment designed to test the implication that individuals may systematically violate monotonicity. The experiment was carried out at the University of East Anglia. A random-lottery procedure was used. The authors have found strong evidence of the violations of monotonicity predicted by regret theory, but no evidence of predicted violations of equivalence. The authors conclude that it might still be the case that ordinary human decision-makers, acting subject to incentives, tend to choose in accordance with the "naive" form of subjective expected utility theory (EUT).
