| Tiivistelmä: | The process of contraction experienced by Belarus economy since 1991 continued during the first seven months of 1995. During the period January to July of this year, GDP was down 12% on the same period the previous year (1994:-20%). Value added in the industrial sector declined by 13%, in agriculture by 9% and in construction by 28%. The available data suggest a pronounced structural shift towards public consumption and net export: both real retail trade turnover which is the most important indicator of private consumption, and gross capital formation have contracted more severely that GDP. |
