Tiivistelmä:Many foreign owned firms, even those that work closely with unions at home, challenge the unionization of their US employees. The Japanese were especially unprepared for the role played by American unions. Foreign ownership also has made it difficult for American unions to obtain information about corporate structure, financial conditions, employees, management, strategies and ownership. A number of examples are mentioned. Unfair labor practices are discussed. The role of cultural differences is analysed. The federal government maintains that all foreign companies must obey US civil rights laws, but many resist to do it. American political leaders and legal advisers are blamed for not adequately informing foreign investors.
