| Tiivistelmä: | Recent trends in the GBP 38 million UK market for microwave cookware are examined. All products covered are made of plastic or ceramic material. Microwave cookware is the second largest sector in the UK cookware market with a total value of GBP 283 million. Microwave cookware increased its market share of cookware sales between 1985 and 1987 but has since declined. Consumers have been slow to realise the benefits of special microwave cookware. In 1990 many manufacturers were describing a general movement towards "traditional" ways of cooking: trends for increased use of fresh ingredients as opposed to frozen, increased use of steamers and pressure cookers, etc. Some data concerning the market are presented. |
