| Tiivistelmä: | The Boundaries of industrial economics are drawn. A brief overiew of its research methods is provided. The theory of a strategic behavior, the tools of non-cooperative game theory, some approaches to empirical research (inter-industry studies, econometric industry studies, laboratory experiments) are dealth with. The patterns of business structure and managerial behavior are considered. Some important theoretical issues concerning the exercise of monopoly power, oligopoly models, cartel agreements and barriers to market entry are discussed. Cases of non-price rivalry (regarding product quality and variety, research and development, advertising etc.) are analyzed. Implications for research policy are summarized. |
