Tiivistelmä:In 1991, when the police unions were upset by the lyrics of a rap song by Ice-T, they lobbied institutional investors to vote against the directors of Time Warner Inc., the company that had released the song. Because institutional investors now own a majority of the voting stock of publicly traded companies in the United States, they have an influence on the way these companies are run. And giving their influence, institutional investors are under increasing pressure to become activist shareholders on behalf of national competitiveness and various social causes.
