| Tiivistelmä: | Ways how to centralize the information system's (IS) functions without losing responsiveness to technology users are discussed. After a period in which companies experimented with decentralizing their IS organization, companies now are consolidating data centres, enhancing the authority of their central IS staffs, and establish companywide standards and procedures. But recentralization does not mean a return to the unresponsive IS bureaucracies of the past. Instead, a hybrid organizational model is emerging , one that promises to promote the traditional trade-off between centralization and decentralisation. These procedures are described. |
