Tiivistelmä:It is explored how USA and European companies can achieve the benefits of global scale and integration, yet keep the responsiveness associated with high levels of decentralisation. Arguments are presented that a firm can gain and maintain a competitive advantage in this respect by designing global strategies fueled by the appropriate reward system, management development programs, and corporate culture. Different approaches to global strategy, reward systems design, and their integration are described and analyzed. The strategic role of management development programs is discussed. The concept of corporate culture as it applies to building a stronger, more cohesive organization is explained.
