| Tiivistelmä: | The author of this article argues that the role of the board is potentially vital, but within a comparatively limited sphere. He recognizes the practical constraints on what tasks the board can discharge effectively, and ceases pretending that boards can usefully second guess executive management on a wide range of issues. But we can use this recognition to focus the board's attention on the few crucial issues where it can make a real contribution. |
