| Tiivistelmä: | A package of reforms designed to revitalise regional and local administrative structures and encourage the development and implementation of political and economic initiatives at regional level was introduced by the Polish government in 1999. The intensification of Poland's accession negotiations with the EU and the prospect of EU membership in the near future provided the reform process with significant momentum and helped shape the eventual reform package. This article analyses this process: it asks in what way the ongoing process of Poland's accession to the EU has influenced territorial administrative reforms. |
