Tiivistelmä:Using an experimental simulation, this study explores the influence of two organizational context variables, codes of conduct (hereafter as: c-of-cdt.) and supervisor advice (here as: sv-adv.), on personnel decisions. Personnel evaluations and decisions in a situation with c-of-cdt. conflicting with sv-adv. are specifically focused on. It is studied how c-of-cdt. enforcement may reduce the form of discrimination (as: dscrn.). Based on 80 German managers evaluating and selecting candidates from an applicants' pool with Germans (as 'ingroup members', ing-mbs.) and foreigners (as 'outgroup members', otg-mbs.), sv-adv. to prefer ing-mbs. lowered suitability ratings of otg-mbs. as well as their chances to get selected for an interview. Ethical c-of-cdt. referring to equal opportunities limited this form of dscrn., but only with c-of-cdt. being enforced by sanctions and integrated into organizational every-day practice.
