Tiivistelmä: | How can organizations respond to the stress employees experience during significant corporate change? It is suggested that the institutionalization of mentoring may be an adaptive response to the increasingly competitive global environment. Several practical implications are offered: 1. mentoring activities may enhance the coping process for individuals in all career stages and in organizations experiencing dramatic strain; 2. creative attempts to alter the organizational culture to encourage relationship building will likely result in effective mentoring; and 3. mentoring relationships that cross racial, gender, and/or ethnic boundaries can provide a context for learning to work in an increasingly diverse workforce. |
