| Tiivistelmä: | During the last years, general progress in information processing has led to an enormous increase in the amount of data which is produced in companies' functional units. Unfortunately, only limited capacities are available to analyse this flood of data. As a consequence, there is the danger that important management information will be over- looked. Therefore, the application of data mining methods which automate the evaluation process appears promising. First, this paper presents the idea of data mining in the area of cost accounting. The main section of the article describes several case studies which were carried out to test these analysis techniques. |
