| Tiivistelmä: | Kustermann and Steinmann deal with Robert Simon's book (Levers of control - how managers use innovative control systems to drive strategic renewal; Boston 1995) in an extraordinarily inspired way: after a description they expand his model by adding the concept of dialogue-based rationality. The authors claim that just like Simon's model their expanded version also replaces classical management theory. Furthermore, their model covers ethical discourse, too. Their thoughtful analysis raises some basic questions which are mentioned in the following contribution. These questions relate to rationality, the controllability of complex organizations the context-dependency of managerial action, its temporal and spatial relatedness and finally whether an orthodox approach to general management would be useful in practice. |
