| Tiivistelmä: | According to the Customs' statistics, the accumulated import and export quanta of steel products were 7.71 million tons and 1.88 million tons in the first half of 1996, up 22.4% and down 33.1% respectively over the same period of last year. The net import quantum was 5.83 million tons, up 67.5%. After entering the second quarter, the import quantum increased obviously, reaching 1.31 million tons, 1.60 million tons and 1.42 million tons in April, May and June respectively, with an average monthly import of 1.44 million tons. Developing at such a speed, the import of steel products will enter the peak period in the second and third quarter. But the import level of steel products in the second half of the year will not be higher than that in the first half of the year. The whole year's import level will possible be lower than last year's. |
