| Tiivistelmä: | Whereas 1994 witnessed a relatively strong recovery in the EU economies from the 1991-93 recession, 1995 saw a distinct slowing down in the Union-wide rate of economic growth. Indeed, in marked contrast to developments early in 1995, when the annualized rate of growth was close to 4 per cent, by the closing months of the year output growth had virtually ceased and might even have become negative in some countries. The overall outcome was that for the EU as a whole the annual rate of growth for 1995 was around 2.7 per cent, fractionally lower than the outturn for the previous year. |
