Tiivistelmä:The author of this analysis has examined labor process theory and its approach to the problematic of subject-object dualism in its many diverse forms. It begins by critizing "orthdox" labor process theorists who reject the view that dualistic analysis is problematic. The focus then turns to labor process theorists who do treat dualistic analysis as problematic. Here, the attempst to reconcile the polarities of dualistic analysis were examined and seen to be directed toward securing an orderly and unfragmented world. Among other things, this could be seen as a project of securing the world in our own image as part of a strategy for securing the self. This analysis has also had two other linked objectives: namely, to explore some postmodern ideas and to link them with a concern to theorize gender at work.
