Tiivistelmä:The empirical findings from a nationwide questionnaire sent to the public affairs officers of corporations and designed to check on the conceptual models are presented. It is shown that there are significant differences between those organizations having a crisis management unit and those not having one, both in frequency of crisis they experience and the actions they undertake to lower their crisis potential. It is suggested that organizations should consider forming dual crisis portfolios composed of preventative actions drawn from action clusters and crises drawn from crisis clusters respectively. The basic purpose is to contribute to the development of a general theory of crisis management.
