Tiivistelmä: | Genuinely devastating crises, such as Bhopal or the space shuttle crash, appear so random that managers find themselves at a loss to take preventive action. Many even take false comfort in believing their own industry to be somehow immune. In a series of memos to a fictitious CEO, the following question is addressed: Is there a rational way to select which potential crises an organization should prepare for, and which can be "safely" ignored?" The answer is "yes". A model is provided for crisis management to help proactive behavior. A crisis portfolio is designed where the horizontal dimension represents severity, the vertical dimension differentiates between causes of crises. The five phases of crisis management. |
