| Tiivistelmä: | In this paper, the roles of country and industry (here as: ind.) effects (as: effs.) on international equity returns are examined using a comprehensive database covering 50 ind. groups and 34 countries from 1992 to 2001. The focus is on the evolving process of those effs. over time and on geographical differences. The main results are as follows: although the country effs. still dominate the ind. effs. in the full sample period, there has been a major upward shift in ind. effs. since 1999. The shift's degree varies across regions and is prominent in Europe and North America, while in Asia Pacific and Latin America, country effs. still dominate etc. |
